Recovering From Taking a Parrot For a Walk?

I thought the line in the song, How Much is That Doggie in the Window, that one of the lines was I don’t want a kitty or a parrot, you can’t take a parrot for a walk. WRONG! One of those misheard lyrics cases and was disappointed to find that it was you can’t take a goldfish for a walk. But that messes up my story because it was a parrot being taken for a walk in a public park that brought the song to mind…and traumatized an entire neighborhood as we sat holding our collective breaths in anticipation of a dog attacking the parrot. Some people just love living on the edge, ya know?! But then again there were the folks that kept their lizard out in the yard on a very hot summer day chained to the tree in the front yard that ran along the busy street in another part of our neighborhood.

The line in the song, "How Much is That Doggy in the Window?" mentions you can’t take a goldfish for a walk. But hey, guess what? You actually can! As a kid spending summers in New York, I saw pimps rocking platform shoes with goldfish in the heels. I thought it was the epitome of cool. Now, I realize it must have been a traumatic experience for the poor fish. What’s that saying about suffering for fashion?

From the movie, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka!

Just the other day, I saw a guy doing it again at the local park, and let me tell you, it was traumatizing all over again. I kept waiting for one of those off-leash dogs to jump up and snatch the parrot off his shoulder. Stay tuned for more urban wildlife adventures…to be continued.
