Mother's Day Surprises: New Additions Welcomed, Twin Groundhog Pups!
Phil, you stud you! Who knew? Up til now he hadn’t produced any offspring. Low and behold mama Phyllis was suckling twin pups. They were discovered Saturday at the end of March in their burrow. See videos below.
In March, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club took to social media to share the delightful news that the famous groundhog couple had welcomed a surprise addition to their family: two adorable pups. This heartwarming development came just a month after Punxsutawney Phil's optimistic prediction of an early spring.
Following an outpouring of suggestions and community involvement, the club revealed the names of Phil and Phyllis' offspring in a special Mother's Day celebration on Sunday. The twins, a girl and a boy, were lovingly christened Sunny and Shadow, respectively.

Vice President Dan McGinley, in a social media post, shared a scroll graciously "provided" by Punxsutawney Phil himself. The scroll, read aloud on the 12th of May in Punxsy Phil, proclaimed the joyous news: the esteemed groundhog couple had expanded their family. With pride and joy, they welcomed little Sunny and Shadow into the world, extending warm wishes for a happy Mother’s Day from Punxsutawney.
