Where Are They Now? Rocky’s Pets…

Remember the turtles from Rocky? Cuff and Link, the iconic cinematic turtles from the original “Rocky” film, still thriving and swimmingly along! These reptilian stars debuted in the 1976 movie and have stood the test of time. Sylvester Stallone, the legendary Rocky Balboa, recently shared a heartwarming Instagram photo with his longtime companions.

These shelled friends have been Stallone's companions since the early days of his career, evolving into beloved symbols of the Rocky franchise. Cuff and Link not only continue to thrive but also made a delightful return in 2018’s “Creed II”. At 49 years old, these turtles continue to bring joy, emphasizing the enduring legacy of the Rocky series. It is my understanding that he doesn’t own the turtles, and they are still owned by the pet shop. This would make sense because, after starring in a couple of movies, they would be a tourist attraction of sorts.

Stallone had another companion, a bull mastiff named Butkus, featured in both “Rocky” and “Rocky II”. Stallone fell upon some tough times financially on his rise to fame and he sold his buddy but the strong bond with Butkus led him to repurchase the dog after initial financial constraints. Butkus holds a special place in Stallone’s heart, a testament to the power of determination and love for our animal friends…To be continued.

Stallone and Butkus

Stallone expressed his love for Butkus, emphasizing that the dog remained devoted to him regardless of his financial struggles as an aspiring actor. Despite having to sell Butkus due to financial constraints, Stallone later repurchased him for $15,000 once he achieved financial stability.
