Welcome baby! USS 8 Feedings and Daddy Daycare 〰️
Can you feel a brand-new day? Stella did it! Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Below is the new gallery USS-8’s first baby pics. Dad feeding baby. Mama feeding the baby. Mama takes a break and a poop. View live cams further down and Daddy Daycare.
East Coast Family Eagles
Oh, the Fit is Gonna Hit the Shan when… the moms get home and see what’s happening at Daddy Daycare. East Coast. West Coast. Same story: Eaglets testing boundaries and the Dads are pretending it’s fine.
At Daddy Daycare, the baby gets up out of the nest cup during feeding. “Alright, champ—time to stretch those wings before your mother gets back and notices you left the nest cup. Look at you, walking up already! Next thing you know, you'll be dive-bombing hawks with your old man.” 04/05/2025

Our resident eagle mom Stella finally caught a break—literally—and stepped out of the nest for a moment of sweet, squatting solitude. Or so she thought… Turns out, 20,000+ of us were watching… and yes, I caught her mid-squeeze. The timing? Immaculate. The face? Regal. The moment? Iconic. She stretched, she summoned the male, she climbed out onto the limb like a queen reclaiming her peace — and then dropped some justice from above. Can’t say I blame her. We Moms everywhere can relate. 😂I mean, she just got done feeding lil Egbert lunch. She summoned Irvin and went to ease nature. Check out the update — the latest in our feathered soap opera is live now. And Happy Monday, Neighborhood Friends. May you find five minutes to poop in peace today. 🙏03/31/2025
Mom, Stella gets a bathroom break and a chance to stretch out a bit. We, parents know this all too well. She lets it out about 43 seconds into the video.

The West Coast Eagle Family
West Coast Eaglets: Meet Sunny and Gizmo: The feathered chaos agents. Shadow’s just trying to keep it together 'til Mom gets back. They grow up so fast… and awkward. Baby vultures? Nah. Just your standard eagle glow-up in progress. 04/05/2025
“The Leetla Boy
... Ees fall da snow, so cold, so white,
An’ cover up da leetla pot
Of — w’at-you-call? — forgat-me-not.
All night da leetla hand I hold
Ees grow so cold, so cold, so cold!
Da spreeng ees com’; but oh, da joy
Eet ees too late!
He was so cold, my leetla boy,
He no could wait.”
Shadow Removing Dead Carcass from Nest
‘Da spreeng ees com; but oh, da joy eet ees too late! He was so cold, my leetla boy, He no could wait’—TA Daly
I Hate to Be the Bearer of Bad News… Not a Happy Sunday for West Coast Eagles, Watch Update: I wish I had better news, but one of Jackie & Shadow’s eaglets didn’t make it through the brutal snow and ice storms on the coast. 💔I believe it was the lil one trying to help dad Shadow guard the nest. (video below) It’s heartbreaking to see nature at its toughest, especially after watching these devoted eagle parents work so hard. But even in moments like this, we’re reminded of their incredible resilience and the fragile beauty of life in the wild. For now, let’s hold onto hope for their remaining eaglets and honor the one we lost. Fly high, little one. While it’s heartbreaking, we take comfort in knowing that Jackie & Shadow are fierce and dedicated parents, doing everything they can for their remaining eaglets. (9 feedings before the mishap). Let’s continue to honor this little one’s brief but beautiful life and send our support to Jackie, Shadow, and our fellow eagle watchers. Nature reminds us of its incredible beauty and its deep challenges. If you have any thoughts or reflections, please share them below. Let’s hold onto hope for the strength of this nest....03/17/2025
“Not one sparrow (What do they cost? Two for a penny?) can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.”
Meanwhile, out West… Kids, they sure do grow up fast. One of the eaglets is already helping Dad (Shadow) watch the nest. Dad is great… lets us stay up till late! Looks like Shadow’s got himself a little apprentice—learning the ropes, keeping an eye on things, and probably waiting for Mom (Jackie) to bring the food.
Classic dad move—put the kid to work early! 🤣 #DadLife #TheyGrowUpSoFast #EagleInternship 03/12/2025
NOT TODAY, DEVIL! Y’all, my heart almost stopped—one of the eaglets got stuck under Mama Jackie’s butt and nearly got knocked out of the nest! But by the grace of God, that lil’ fluffball somehow-someway tumbled right back in like an action movie stunt double—and then had the nerve to keep eating like nothing happened! (I will try to post the video of the events later.) By the way Happy Sunday! Look, I have raised my kids and my heart can’t take this kind of stress! We, moms know how one minute everything is fine then the next thing you know the neighbor is calling saying do you know your kid is out on your roof? (Thank God it was flat!) Any whooo, over at US Steel, Stella probably won't see a pip until March 19th. Meanwhile she is out here deepening her nest like a responsible mom, making sure her babies don’t take unexpected flying lessons before their time. And I noticed that Irvin and Stella have put up what looks like guard rails. Guess West Coast don't roll like that.
Stella and Irvin Done Put Up Guardrails
Guess won’t be no babies tumbling from this nest, ya know?
Oh, we moms all know how this goes. First kid? Wrapped in a bubble, sanitized like a science experiment, basically raised in a sterile lab. Second kid? Spit baths replace wipes, and if the binkie hits the floor—a lint check, quick mom spit (that stuff is basically holy water, antibacterial spray, and a magic eraser all in one. Cleans faces, removes mystery stains, and somehow fixes everything…), and boom, pop it back in the mouth.
Gotta say, I got newfound respect for Stella. Not hatin’ as much. Different energy, different nests, same chaotic parenting game.

Big Bear Valley Eagles Live from the eagle nest cam: We saw a claw extend out briefly then retracted! We saw fluff! We had a lot of MOVEMENT! But does Mama Jackie care? Nope. She’s got a ‘one meal at a time’ policy—priority seating goes to the first two hatchlings while poor Sheldon is knocking from the inside like, ‘Uh…a little help here?!’ If Papa Shadow were around, he’d be the good dad, giving Sheldon a pep talk and a few strategic pecks. But Jackie? She’s got a strict ‘You’ll hatch when I’m good and ready’ policy. Will Sheldon or Shelly break free? Stay tuned, y’all—it’s getting egg-citing! 03/07/2025
With a crack, a stretch, a first glimpse of the world—today, the eaglet reminds us that new beginnings are worth the wait. And with patience, resilience, and faith—Jackie sat through storms to protect this moment. A reminder that love shelters, and persistence rewards. You go grrrrrl! 3/04/2025
I See Your Crack!
After pipping, hatching can take between one and three days, so keep those eagle eyes peeled! Check out appropriate live cams below. Soo, scroll down.
Last night, I watched Jackie, the devoted eagle mom, endure nature’s fury with unwavering strength. As fierce winds howled through the trees, she remained steadfast, shielding her fragile eggs beneath her. Hail pelted her feathers, then the sky quieted just long enough for snow to settle around her, yet she never wavered. Through it all, Jackie stood as a symbol of resilience—her fierce love stronger than the storm. 3/3/2025
Last year Jackie’s eggs were not viable and the year before ravens ate her eggs
Ain't that a pip? Happy Saturday. L'chaim to LIFE! Redemption is in the air at Big Bear Lake! After last year’s heartbreak—when Jackie and Shadow’s eggs weren’t viable, and we all watched with heavy hearts as ravens claimed the eggs—hope has returned. We witnessed Jackie’s fierce devotion, Shadow’s stubborn optimism, and the moment she finally had to convince him it was time to let go and leave the nest. But this year, their first egg of 3 is officially ready to pip! The wait has been long, the journey emotional, but now we’re on the edge of our seats, ready to cheer on this little eaglet’s debut. May the fish be plenty and the ravens stay FAR away! Read the full saga on 'Hope Springs Eternal' post. (Images Jackie and Shadow and their current eggs, then a gif of a past baby eaglet hatching) Hope you are excited as I am. You can view the live cams on my website. 3/01/25
Jackie and Shadow and the 3 Lil Pips
L’chaim, to LIFE! Check out the live cams below. Listen to nature, as I hear a woodpecker in the background. Watch as Shadow brings Jackie sushi and takes his turn on the nest.
The updates keep coming… Stella has laid another egg. So, she must have heard I was talking about her one lil stank egg and now she thinks she’s a queen or something. See live CAM below.
Stella Laid Another Egg
She must have heard I was talking about her one lil stank egg. If ya gonna depose Claire ya gotta do better than one lil stank egg, ya know!?
UPDATE: Well, folks, the drama in the treetops has reached soap opera levels.
Homegirl Claire got kicked out of her own nest—by none other than a side chick, Stella. And not just any side chick. This one rolled in like she owned the place, fluffed up her feathers, and laid an egg like she’s been on the deed all along. Scroll down to view live CAM.
The Hussy!
If I was Claire I would have yanked the whole nest off the branch. Just sayin’ or show up in the tree next door with a bigger, badder male eagle—one with fresher fish and stronger wings.
Meanwhile, Irvin? Oh, Irvin just moved right along with his new nest mate like nothing ever happened. Typical.
And what do I have to say about this? I’m MAD. But… that’s the bird world. That’s nature. No prenups, no loyalty, just who swoops in fastest and lays claim.
Stella (yes, I’m screaming it STELLA! STELLA! STELLA!) has officially taken over.
Lessons learned? Love is fleeting, home ownership is a gamble, and nest insurance is NOT a thing.
Stay tuned for the next episode of As the Eagle’s Nest Turns… because something tells me this drama ain’t over. #NestWars #BirdSoapOpera #IrvinAintLoyal
Heard a rumor that one of the eagle males may be considering a new partner but main girl got something to say about that.
I asked MSN copilot what was up and here is the update. AI up on all the gossip.
At the US Irvin Steel plant is the same eagle couple Irvin and Claire still there or has a new pair taken over the nest 2025? Rumor had it that some new fledgling was in the picture. I guess Claire the OG mama said not today DEVIL! And she still reigns supreme.
Yes, Irvin and Claire are still at the U.S. Steel Irvin Plant! This iconic pair of bald eagles has been nesting near Pittsburgh since around 2020. Their nest is located in a sycamore tree along the Monongahela River at the Mon Valley Works—Irvin Plant in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. They continue to delight viewers through the live eagle cam maintained by a partnership involving pixcams.com and the United States Steel Corporation.
Then I asked, so, what was the rumor about a new pair of eagles recently and what happened to that?
It replied: That's a good question! There were indeed rumors of a potential new pair of eagles at the U.S. Steel Irvin Plant. However, those rumors were soon clarified. It turns out that Irvin and Claire are still there, and they've continued to captivate viewers through the live eagle cam.
People might have gotten confused when the USS 7 eaglet was hatched and the camera feed showed only one eagle at times. But rest assured, the beloved Irvin and Claire duo continues to call the nest home.
Do you enjoy watching the eagle cam regularly?

There was a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on up in Hays, too. The Hays eagles’ nest fell down in a storm last summer. So will they or will they not rebuild?
The Bear Lake bald eagles, Jackie and Shadow, are back and stirring up more excitement than a reality TV reunion. After last year’s heartbreak—none of Jackie’s eggs were viable—fans are watching this season with bated breath, hoping for a new beginning. Jackie’s been spotted doing her signature "pancaking" move in the nest, which sounds like brunch plans but is actually her getting comfy for potential egg-laying. Meanwhile, Shadow’s been hustling, bringing in fluff and sticks like he’s trying to win Eagle Husband of the Year.
Looks like Jackie has 3 eggs incubating…

It’s all very “Eagle Nest Diaries” as the pair prep for what we’re all hoping will be a season full of fluffy new eaglets. Will this be the year Jackie and Shadow finally expand their family? Fans are glued to the nest cams, ready for every stick placement and fluff adjustment like it’s a red-carpet event. Stay tuned—because in the eagle world, it’s all about eggs, drama, and a whole lot of fluff!
Bald Eagle Mating Season
Where love is in the air… and so are the dramatic mid-air cartwheels. Date night has never been this extreme.
In 2024, the nest was abandoned, and the ravens were allowed to remove the non-viable eggs.
